It started at a house party. One person had the best camera phone in the group — the candids they were getting were incredible. I asked them to share the photos that night. They said sure, just busy right now. I asked again the next morning. Still busy. The photos arrived a day later. Compressed. Sent over WhatsApp in a bulk dump. The moment was gone. Half the people at the party never even got them. I started asking around — friends, flatmates, people from other trips. Everyone had the exact same story. A different party, a different person, the same outcome. Photos stuck on one phone, never making it to the people in them. I looked at everything out there. Google Photos requires accounts. AirDrop only works between iPhones. WhatsApp destroys quality. iCloud albums lock out Android. Nothing just worked — for everyone, in the moment, without setup. So I built Rollout. Create a room, share a QR, everyone's photos sync live. No waiting. No asking. No compressed garbage a day later.
The experience has to work while you're still at the event — not later, when the moment is gone and the group chat is dead.
If one person has to download an app or create an account, the whole system breaks. Everyone needs to join in 5 seconds flat.
Not 40% of the photos, not compressed versions. Every single shot, from every single phone, in original quality — to everyone who was there.
Every extra tap, every account form, every permission screen is a reason someone won't use the product. We remove them obsessively until there's nothing left to remove.
We build for now, not later. "I'll share them after" is where photos go to die. Everything we build assumes you need it while the event is still happening.
We will never compress a photo. The original file or nothing. This is a line we will not cross regardless of storage cost, bandwidth, or pressure to do otherwise.
Your photos are yours. Rooms are private, face data stays on-device, and we don't use your content to train anything. No fine print exceptions.
